Family Office
What It Means
The term Family Office can mean a variety of things, but it is commonly used to refer to a privately held wealth management firm that handles investments on behalf of very high net worth individuals or families.
Why It’s Important
Family Offices commonly invest in Middle Market businesses. Each Family Office is unique, often making investment or purchase decisions based on criteria aligned with the philosophy of the high net worth individual or family they represent. They don’t have the same four to seven year investment horizon restrictions that Private Equity firms face. This gives Family Offices the ability to invest with patience and to make decisions based on long-term value creation.
